Who We Are – What We Do
Els for Autism-Canada is a Canadian-based organization committed to helping people diagnosed on the autism spectrum live healthy, productive lives. The organization was created by pro-golfer Ernie Els – a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Ernie and his wife Liezl have been active in organizations providing assistance to people diagnosed on the autism spectrum since 2007 – shortly after their son, Ben, was diagnosed. They have lent their support to organizations in the United States, South Africa and the United Kingdom to provide assistance for schools, therapy programs and to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders.
Establishment of the Canadian organization is a continuation of those efforts. It focuses on the needs of Canadians diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and their families. All the money the organization raises that supports program activities will be used to assist Canadian organizations and programs. Program support will provide services in the province or territory in which the funds were raised.
Autism is a challenge for those affected by it, their families and the communities in which these Canadians live. Together we can increase awareness, provide resources and work toward providing environments in which people with autism spectrum disorders can thrive.

ELS FOR AUTISM FOUNDATION TAKES MAJOR STEP FORWARD WITH CENTER OF EXCELLENCE PLANS
JUPITER, FL (November 20, 2013) – The Els for Autism Foundation closed today on the purchase of a 26-acre piece of land in the Limestone Creek Community, located in Palm Beach County Florida for the building of the proposed Els Center of Excellence.
Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners approved the zoning for the facility in May, and the Foundation is preparing to break ground on the Center in the Spring of 2014.
This land closing is an exciting milestone on the journey to deliver a much-needed state-of-the-art Center for children affected by autism and their families. The Center will integrate unique architectural components to create an environment designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum; providing the base for uniquely designed and individualized educational and therapeutic programs for 300 children, aged 3-21. It will also serve as a physical hub for a multi-faceted global outreach program that will make therapeutic best practices available to people on the spectrum; both in the US and internationally.
"The Center will be a very special building for very special people and will not only be a game changer for the children in our community but it will be a hub for our global outreach programs. This will ensure that the positive influence of the Center is felt far beyond the boundaries of its walls. The close on the sale of the land is a major and exciting milestone that brings us one step closer to seeing our dream become a reality, a dream that could not have been realized without the amazing support of our friends and donors; both locally and across the country." Said Els for Autism Founder, Ernie Els.
He added: "We have ambitious plans for the Center and to deliver everything we want to we still need your ongoing support, so please stay with us on our journey as we strive to create a better future for the many kids and families affected by autism that so desperately need our help."
